Surrounded by 35,000 federally protected acres is the most unique and protected birding paradise in North East Florida, the Pellicer Flats. A mile-wide tidal lagoon system drains completely at low tide. Rich in shore birds, the only way to access this ecological gem is via kayak. Join Ripple Effect Ecotours with lead guide Danny Lippi, local University of Florida Master Naturalist Instructor and Certified ACA Kayak Instructor. Species of interest found here include, Whimbrels, fledgling Bald Eagles, Northern Harriers, Black Bellied Plovers, Greater and Lesser Yellow Legs, Roseate Spoonbills, Gray Cat Birds, Purple Martins, Sandhill Cranes and many other species.
